I enjoy handling workers’ compensation claims because it gives me the opportunity to work directly with people. While I don’t mind doing legal research, I wouldn’t want a job that kept me away from clients.
My dad was in sales, and both of my parents worked as greeters in their retirement—my dad at Walmart and my mom at Bass Pro Shops. Growing up, I would often hear my dad in his home office, talking with people on the phone.
That kind of personal connection stuck with me. I’ve always enjoyed being around people and talking with them. I wouldn’t want to be sitting in a back room doing nothing but research all day. Getting to help real people face real challenges is what makes my work meaningful.
