In Ohio, there is protection for people. You cannot be fired for filing a claim and pursuing a claim, and, frankly, workers’ comp is really a big no fault insurance situation. The Workers’ Comp Bureau is really the insurance company most of the time. Most of the employers in Ohio are small enough employers to where they pay into the state insurance system. Every employer is required to have workers’ compensation coverage, with a few exceptions, but by and large most are. So they will pay into the workers’ compensation fund. If a person gets hurt at work – even if it’s their own fault because of their own negligence – they are supposed to be covered because it is designed to get you treatment, fixed up, and get you back to work, and also pay your wages for you while you are unable to work.
