Preparing for your first meeting with Monast Law Office

When you schedule a new client meeting with our workers' compensation team, it's nice to know what to expect. Your consultation might not look like our meetings did a year ago, but then nothing is the same as it was a year ago! We're committed to resolving your workers' comp issue in a way that makes you feel comfortable.

Whether we're meeting in person, via teleconference, or by phone and email exchange, it helps to have certain documents ready.

What We Cover in a New Client Meeting

You'll most likely talk to one of our legal assistants, Wilma, Todd, or Mendy, at your introductory meeting. They'll take a history of your injury, so any notes you might have about the incident—including when and how it happened and whether there were any witnesses—would be helpful. We also want to know about the steps you have taken since the accident. To help with this, you should have:

  • Any documentation you have from your employer or the Bureau of Workers' Compensation (BWC). This might include a copy of the accident report filled out by your supervisor and copies of emails or letters sent to or received from your employer or the BWC.
  • The names of any doctors you've seen so we can collect medical records if necessary. It also helps to have the dates of doctor visits and copies of medical bills you've already received.
  • Your W2s, paystubs, or other wage information for a year prior to the injury so we can calculate your full and average weekly wages. We also need your employment start date and a description of your work duties.

The more of this information you can gather before we meet, the more efficiently we can assess your claim.

We Want to Help You Understand the Process

We understand that you're going through a difficult time, and it might be hard to get this information organized. That's okay! We're here to help, so if you have trouble getting these documents, just let us know.

Meanwhile, please request a free download of our book, The Worker's Guide to Injury Compensation in Ohio. In it, you will find a wealth of valuable information to help with your claim. Thank you for considering Monast Law Office to handle your Ohio workers' comp claim. We look forward to working with you!
